In the Clio Design Jury 2010

One of Scandinavian DesignLab’s own, Creative Director Per Madsen, has been selected to participate in the Clio Design Jury. Per will join the rest of the jury in New York, where the five members will spend four days deliberating on this year's design entries. The winners will be revealed at the 2010 Clio Awards Event which will take place in New York, on May 26th and 27th.

At a ceremony in Frankfurt, Germany Scandinavian DesignLab was presented with a Silver Award at the prestigious “Prize of prizes”, the German Design Award. The award was given for the corporate identity for Danish supermarket chain SuperBest. The project has previously been awarded with Danish Design Award for Best Corporate Identity.

Change in ownership structure

After five years as Partner and Strategic Creative Director, Jesper von Wieding has decided to step down from his position at Scandinavian DesignLab. The decision, which took its effect from February 1st, 2010 has been underway for some time. Jesper von Wieding's ownership share has been aquired by Per Madsen and Anne-Mette Højland who founded Scandinavian DesignLab with Jesper in 2004.

Scandinavian Designlab is honoured to have been nominated for the 'Prize of Prizes', the 2010 Designpreis Deutschland, which is the highest distinction in the field of Design in Germany. Companies cannot enter the competition themselves, but must be nominated by the Ministries and Senators of the Federal States and by the German Design Council on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology. Scandinavian DesignLab has been nominated for the SuperBest Identity.

Munthe plus Simonsen identity revitalized

As Naja Munthe will be carrying the Fashion brand, Munthe Plus Simonsen, on alone, she decided that Munthe plus Simonsen should have a more personal look with a more direct link to her as a person, which is how Scandinavian DesignLab came up with the new, highly personal, revitalised visuel identity.

When Nørrebro Theatre took over the old and well-known Rialto Theatre, Nørrebro Theatre’s identity was expanded to include their new scene, Frederiksbergscenen. Consequently, different F’s has been made in order to capture the atmosphere.

Nordisk Panorama Identity

Scandinavian DesignLab has created the new identity for Nordisk Panorama, the annual short- and documentary film festival hosted by 5 different cities. The identity enhances the feeling of documentaries and short films and the cropping of the logo improves the readability of the name and gives it a hard and simple expression.

Identity for Karen By Simonsen

Scandinavian DesignLab has created the visual identity for Karen By Simonsen. Karen by Simonsen is the new, Danish high-end fashion brand. The clothes are graphic, geometric and raw, hence the raw feeling of the logo, which looks almost as if cut by hand.

It is with great honour and pride that we can announce Scandinavian DesignLab as winners of yet another CLIO award. This year Scandinavian DesignLab won the Silver Award for the 1:1 Arkitekter identity. The 1:1 symbol reflects the duality in 1:1 Arkitekter as it can be viewed both as 1:1 and an A. The Clio Awards are rewarded for creative excellence in design, and is one of the largest awards programs of its kind.

Identity for REPUBLIQUE

Copenhagen's new theater was created as a counterpart to the Royal Danish Theater - hence the name REPUBLIQUE, which consists of Publique, the public, the audience; and Que, the question they seek to answer in REPUBLIQUE's lab. The circle symbolises the shared values in the republic, across nationality, gender and age.

Scandinavian DesignLab was voted Design Agency of The Year for the second year running at Friday's 2009 Creative Circle Award. Scandinavian DesignLab took home an additional three awards; a Bronze Award for the mini corporate identity created for artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, a Silver Award for the art book White Ink, and a Gold Award for the mini corporate identity made for 1:1 Architects.

White Ink, the art book Scandinavian DesignLab made for Danish artist Cathrine Raben Davidsen, has been chosen to appear at the 2009 exhibit for The Best Bookwork of the Year, which is held by The Book-Craft Society. In this context, White Ink will travel to Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig as a part of the bookfair where it will be one of the books considered for the title of "The Most Beautiful Book in the World."

Scandinavian DesignLab participated in Art4soul’s MAN+GOD Chinese art project. A group of handpicked design agencies worldwide were given sets of traditional Russian nesting dolls through which they were to explore the relationship between man and God. The exhibition was launched in China, and is currently making its way around the world.

In the design category, our corporate identity for Nørrebro Theater, a theater with a 100-year long history, has won a Bronze award; and in the same category we won yet another Bronze award for our PARISTEXAS identity. The making of an Art Book

Scandinavian DesignLab made the Art Book for Danish artist Catrine Raben Davidsen again this year. The book showcases samples of Cathine´s picturesque oeuvre in a different and interesting way with unexpected paper choices, varnish and embossing effects. The book was launched at Catherine’s art show at Horsens Kunstmuseum on the 19th of April 2008.

Revitalising New Identity

At the 2007 EPICA awards, Scandinavian DesignLab was awarded a bronze prize in the Illustration & Graphics category for the visual identity created for PARISTEXAS. The identity for this high-end fashion store breaks with the traditional perception of beauty and fashion in the usage of a symbolic universe of morphings between music instruments and creepy insects.

Executive development company DIEU has changed its name to Mannaz. Mannaz is the Proto-Germanic term for Human Being. The new logo is hand-written and symbolises the focal point of the company - the unique human being. The Danish retail chains SuperBest, ISO and Dreisler merged on April 1st 2007. The new market leading chain kept the name SuperBest and was launched with a completely new visual identity created by Scandinavian DesignLab in 220 stores across the country.

”Voice of the Shuffle”

”Voice of the Shuffle” is a unique fashion experiment interpreting the myth of the sisters Philomena and Prochne. It was published as a supplement to the December issue of leading Danish fashion magazine, “Cover”. ”Voice of the Shuffle” was developed in cooperation with the artist CRD, photographer Morten Bjarnhof, stylists Stine Goya and Rikke Wackerhausen.

Nordic Nestlé account

Scandinavian DesignLab has entered an exclusive co-operation agreement with Nestle Infant Nutrition and Nestle Beverage. The agreement involves all packaging design in the Nordic region for the two business sections, including all baby food products and brands such as Nesquik and Nescafé.

New font for Nestlé

Scandinavian DesignLab has designed a new typeface for Nestlé. The Nestlé Kids typeface will be used on all baby food products in Scandinavia, and is rooted in traditional Danish typefaces and inspired by children's handwriting.
